Seminars for Edglos

Seminar’s are lead by Mervi Kaukko.

During the seminars, Edglo students will carry out a mini research of their own. The mini research can contribute towards the Master’s thesis but it does not have to.

In the end of the course the mini research will be presented to the group in a conference-style presentation during which the miniresearch will be commented by peers and by the teacher.

The purpose is not to produce a perfect research but to learn to discuss research in an academic manner. Accordingly, the course grade is based on student’s ability to discuss and assess research, not on the ability to produce perfect research. In other words, this course is the time to be creative, daring and even foolish, make mistakes… – And identify what the mistakes were.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not ”eureka!” but “that’s funny…” – Isaac Asimov
